Hello everyone! My name is Kashie, and this year I am serving as the 2026–2027 Membership Growth and Retention Chair!
In my home club, we participate in events such as Freshman Expo and Club Rush. Freshman Expo allows incoming freshmen from local middle schools to tour the school, explore classes, and learn about clubs.
At Freshman Expo, I help recruit students by explaining what Key Club is, sharing our mission, and encouraging them to join. I also collect names for a potential contact list so we can follow up once the school year begins.
Club Rush, however, takes place later in the school year. During Club Rush, officers like myself inform students about Key Club, share our mission statement, and offer incentives such as candy or snacks to encourage participation. After Club Rush, we hold an introductory meeting where we explain the basics of Key Club and how students can get involved.
One thing that works well in my club is providing food at meetings. It helps create a welcoming environment, encourages attendance, and keeps members engaged.
To retain members, I recommend implementing fun and interactive service projects. Activities such as painting rocks, volunteering at Field Day, or creating posters can make service enjoyable while still making a positive impact. Every club is different, but one thing I have noticed across many clubs is that members want to have fun, feel welcomed, and make a difference through service.
As long as those needs are met, I am confident that your 2026–2027 season will be filled with engaged and enthusiastic members. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
