Fundraising can seem like a huge challenge. There’s lots of planning, work, and commitment that goes into it, but fundraising is a vital part of what allows our clubs and communities to thrive.

One effective and creative way to raise money is through the calendar fundraiser. Your club can choose a month, create a printable calendar, and then members can take these calendars and sell the dates. For example, if someone chose to buy March 7th, they would donate $7 to Key Club. This is an easy, flexible fundraiser that one can do on your own time and cater toward your club's needs.

Another way to fundraise is through selling pecans. You can buy bags of pecans for a discounted price on the Priester’s Pecans website. All you have to do is fill out their fundraiser request form! Their website is easy to navigate and offers information on how to plan a successful fundraiser using their pecans. Once you have ordered bags, you can sell them in your community and to your family and friends. This delicious fundraising option is easy to execute, and raises lots of money for your club.

No matter how you choose to raise money, there are a few things that will help contribute to your fundraising success. The first is creativity: people are drawn to things that are unique and exciting. The second is advertising: when, how, and why. Patrons are more likely to show up or donate if they know what you’re doing and that you’re raising money for a great cause. The third is passion: the more excited you are, the more that is going to show through your work and dedication.

While fundraising may seem tedious at times, it’s a huge part of what allows your club and communities to function, grow, and prosper. It can allow you to attend conventions for a lower cost, like ICON in Dallas this year, donate to charities, or fund one of your upcoming projects. Fundraising can be exciting! Remember that it unlocks doorways to new opportunities, and you have fun. Good luck, get out there, and get fundraising!
