Did you know that over 600 million people around the world lack access to safe and clean
drinking water? That’s where Thirst Project comes in, and so does Key Club! The Thirst
Project is a non profit organization that is dedicated to providing safe drinking water to
communities around the world that lack immediate access to it. Through fundraising efforts,
the organization develops Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) projects in areas where clean
water is desperately needed. Currently active in five countries, the Thirst Project builds
freshwater wells to serve these communities. Since it’s founding, it has provided clean water to
thousands of people in need across 13 countries!
Thanks to your dedication, Key Club Walks for Water in 2025 was an incredible success.
Because of Key Club’s participation and funding, a clean water project for an entire community
in Eswatini was made possible (more information will be shared at ICON about this).
However, the mission does not stop there. We need everyone to continue participating in the
raising of funds for the Thirst Project. You can do this by continuing to participate in Key Club
Walks in 2026 and in the years to come. Additionally, you can raise money by starting a
personal fundraising sight, and more information can be found on the Thirst Project’s website.
Furthermore, your school’s Key Club can organize some type of fundraising event such as a
movie night, car wash, bingo night, or bake sale to help end the water crisis.
Whether you’re inspired to fund a whole well, or just want to learn more about the water crisis
and how you can help, reach out to Andrew Reese at andrew@thirstproject.org. Every drop counts, and every Key Clubber has the power to make a difference!
