Serving on the Georgia District Board as a Lieutenant Governor and Committee Chair was one of the most meaningful leadership experiences I’ve ever had. I ran for this position very last minute, but little did I know that it would change my life completely. I was familiar with organizing meetings, sending updates to members, and other club level responsibilities, however, being a Lieutenant Governor became something beyond that. Aside form the greater responsibilities, I got to build incredible relationships with other district board members and other members from across the country at ICON.

Key Club gave me the opportunity to showcase my leadership at a greater magnitude. I was able to support different service projects that we focus on here in the Georgia District. During my term, I was lucky enough to focus on giving back to youth through educational resources. I specifically assisted Head Start chapters in my division with different projects, such as giving free Pete The Cat books and reading to children with support from the LiTEArary society, to having my own divisional service project packing 100 school supply kits for Head Start children. It was beautiful to see that my leadership and initiative had impact in our communities.

Communication and collaboration is also something I heavily learned as part of the District Board. Serving on the District Membership Growth & Retention Committee as well as the K-Fam committee, and eventually becoming K-Fam chair, allowed me to work with other board members and grow our mission as a district. Whether that was making graphics with someone, or hosting webinars, we truly connected through the same passion for leadership and service. It is so rewarding to work alongside like-minded peers who are driven and take leadership seriously.

It was an honor serving Gwinnett County Key Club chapters as their Division 6 Lieutenant Governor, and I am glad to have made a difference in my homes, schools and communities through Key Club. As I take on the next branch of the Kiwanis Family, Circle K International, I will continue to serve communities in need and I encourage all Key Club members to do the same. Key Club’s motto “Caring–Our Way Of Life” has become a motto I carry with me every day and has changed the person I have become today.
