My Key Club journey is a bit different from most. At my school, there is an event called Freshman Expo, where rising ninth graders are invited to tour high schools in the county, learn about their programs, and gain an overall understanding of what each school has to offer. During my Freshman Expo, I came across a Key Club table. The students there explained what Key Club was and the impact it had on both the school and the community. I had always been passionate about service, so Key Club felt like the perfect gateway to continue that passion at the high school level.

Once I officially entered high school, I joined my local Key Club. I participated in countless service projects and quickly found myself wanting to become more involved. When elections were held, I ran for Membership and Retention Chair. That experience deepened my commitment to the club and introduced me to leadership in ways I had never experienced before.

In February, my club sponsor, Dr. Sims, won a Kiwanis award. I accompanied her to receive it, and during the ceremony, Kiwanis Governor Mr. David Simmons gave a speech that truly inspired me. His words resonated deeply and motivated me to aim higher. Just two weeks later at Service Leadership Conference (SLC), I referenced him in my oratory speech.

At SLC, I was on the fence about running for Lieutenant Governor. I initially believed the responsibility would be too overwhelming. However, when District Board applications opened, I was encouraged by my peers and Dr. Sims to apply. I took a leap of faith, and I was selected to serve as Division 11 Lieutenant Governor.

Although I was appointed, serving on the District Board became one of my greatest accomplishments. I stepped into rooms I never imagined being in, had conversations that shaped my leadership, and built relationships that I will always cherish.

If I had the opportunity to do it all again, I would in a heartbeat. I love Key Club because it allowed me to turn my passion for service into meaningful action alongside people who share the same values. Key Club has given me unforgettable experiences and memories that I treasure deeply. It truly changed my life. One decision, one application, or one convention can completely transform your future, and Key Club was that transformation for me.
