Want to be prepared for the new year? Not sure what to do? Here is an idea on how to
make the best of Key Club in 2025 and 2026.
Setting goals is an integral part of being and feeling successful in any part of life. So why
not bring goal setting into your club? Maybe you brainstorm plans for the year on your own and present them to your club at a club meeting, or maybe you set up a day for all of your members to set goals and share them together.
Goals can be individual/personal goals for each member, or can be for the club as a
whole. Even better, get your club to do both!
Maybe there is something you know your club struggled with last year, maybe you think
your club didn’t have any major problems but want to do something more meaningful this year,
or maybe your club did great last year, but you still know there is still room for improvement.
There are always many reasons to set goals.
Whether you want to increase your club’s membership, start/continue a service project, or
raise funds for your club, make sure your goal follows these five guidelines represented by a
simple acronym: SMART. For a goal to be a SMART goal it should be specific (S), measurable
(M), achievable (A), realistic (R), and timely (T). Basically, goals should not be too vague,
should be trackable and quantifiable, and should be reasonable for you/your club to pull off with the resources you have access to. Most importantly, make sure that your goals follow a specific timeline with due dates for smaller goals to complete along the way.
